Together We Raise Awareness

A meeting held in Nairobi on May 9, 2018 where the Coordinating Council Public Affairs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Dr. Joel Okindoh, pastor in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Public Affairs Director for Africa, stationed in Kenya. The topic discussed was the All Africa Liberty Religious Conference to be held in September in Kigali, Rwanda.

On May 9, 2018 a meeting was held in Nairobi with the Coordinating Council Public Affairs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to break bread with Dr. Joel Okindoh, pastor in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Public Affairs Director for Africa, stationed in Kenya. The topic discussed was the All Africa Liberty Religious Conference to be held in September in Kigali, Rwanda.

             

Dr. Okindoh graciously recognized and expressed appreciation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the support in the cause of religious freedom. Director of Public Affairs ASEA (Africa Southeast Area), Brother Ellis Mnuyandu conducted and led the discussion. Mnuyandu mentioned that efforts were being made to bring Elder Joseph W. Sitati, a General Authority and an early pioneer in Kenya, as the Church’s representative speaker.

              

Religious leaders of all faiths and all Christian denominations, as well as Government officials, Representatives of Human rights, NGO’s and Ambassadors of many countries are invited. Over 1000 delegates will be attending and the judiciary will officially close the meeting. The third day will be a religious festival to gather 30,000 participants to thank God for freedom and to praise Him.

            

Dr. Okindoh emphasized that we are not expected to compromise our individual beliefs, but we seek to have our beliefs upheld by government as well as all other religions. We expect to coexist in spite our differences as we hold a similar burden. Our efforts can make a difference. Ellis Mnuyandu handed Dr. Joel Okindoh a formal letter of acceptance and pledged support for the All African Liberty Conference.
