East Nairobi Stake Finds Unlimited Service Possibilities

Nairobi East Stake Mormon Helping Hands volunteers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, instigated a clean-up campaign, partnering with Nairobi county officials.

Nairobi East Stake Mormon Helping Hands (MHH) volunteers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, instigated a clean-up campaign, partnered with Nairobi county officials, Larry Wambua, Nairobi County Minister for Environment and assistant, Malawi John Paul and other County Government officials who lead the venture.

The clean-up project began August 4, 2018 at the Makueni village market place. The county furnished tools, gloves, wheelbarrows and a dump truck. East Stake president Jadmire Ndivo and public affairs stake director, Kasanga Mukendi synchronized the MHH volunteers to get the clean-up work done.

Donning their Helping Hands yellow vests, the group spurred other community members into laboring with the cleanup project. The day ended with a celebration and appreciation speech by Nairobi Governor Sonko at the area that was rehabilitated for a park, reclaimed from a dumpsite. Those who helped clean the market were thanked, including the MHH representatives for this environmental day. Monthly projects will continue to be held on the first Saturday of each month. Everyone is welcome to participate to make Nairobi a cleaner, healthier and more attractive place to live.
