#LightTheWorld in Nairobi, Kenya

Government, business, education, journalists and interfaith representatives, joined with the Church of Jesus Christ in performing an act of kindness on each day of December to promote peace during the Christmas season.

The 29th of November date had been reserved for the launching of #LightTheWorld, a service oriented initiative to be implemented during the month of December by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This initiative encourages all to emulate the life of service illustrated by the Savior, Jesus Christ.  Guests, including government, business, education, journalists and interfaith representatives, were invited to The Lord Erroll restaurant to join with the Church of Jesus Christ in performing an act of kindness on each day of December to promote peace during the Christmas season.

  

Evelyn Jepkemei, the Director of the Public Affairs Council in Nairobi, conducted the meeting while President Munene of the Nairobi East Stake presided. Present too were President Jadmire Ndivo, of the East Stake and President Kumbulani Mdletshe, of the Kenya Nairobi Mission.

                                                 

After watching a nativity The Christ Child: A Nativity Story, Sister Mable Muruli gave a heartwarming reminder to all that ‘being an example in word and in conversations’ can allow the light of Christ that is within us all to shine forth for others to see.

                                           

Joy Doreen Biira moderated a panel lively panel discussion developed concerning  the Role of Government , Business and Religious Organizations in Social Development: A focus on Doing Good to All. Panel members were from the business, education interfaith and journalism fields.

                                             

Ajay Shah noted that, “We all belong to one faith, Humanity.” and stressed that we need not to treat each other indifferently but as brothers and sisters. Attendees also contributed to the discussion where Jane Abukutsa, a writer, life coach, pulbic speaker and manager observed, “The rent that we pay for living on this earth is service."

                                         

Sage and the Jobel Choral Choir provided festive and joyful Christmas music before guests departed for lunch and to light the world.
