# 1 Ingredient for Success in Education and Work

Open House and Panel Discussion on Empowering Youth.

On Saturday Dec. 9, 2017, members of the Langata congregation conducted an Open House in their meetinghouse in the Nairobi West area of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The purpose of the Open House was to familiarize the community with the beliefs of their Church and to discuss the topic—Empowering the youth for success in education and the workplace.

Various members of the Church contributed along with several sets of missionaries to explain the Church’s programs. Several classrooms in the meetinghouse contained displays—the women’s Relief Society, the Family Search genealogy program, The Young Women and Young Men programs that the Church offers to its members and friends.

A panel discussion began about 1:00 pm with Joseph Poche offering a word of prayer and thanking all who interrupted their day to give of their time in the understanding of the topic on youth. Andrew Kiserema acted as moderator and asked each guest to read a sentence or two from the booklet “For the Strength of Youth.”

Guests from the community were Mark Senteu, Gabriel Chapia. Isabella Kamere, PhD, David Waweru, Annrose Muhindi, Andrew Kiserema, and Dr. Evelyn Jepkemei, PhD.

“The diversity in experience of the panel members speaking on integrity made the discussion very insightful,” summarized David Machio. Cultivating integrity in one’s life is a necessary ingredient of success in education and work—both as an employee and entrepreneurship.”

Refreshments were served to all attendees and printed materials were freely given to whomever wished.  All were thanked for participating in the numerous ways for a successful gathering.
